The group was founded by Dr Robert Eden, who has over 30 years of experience in the renewable energy sector. Dr. Eden, now a globally recognised expert in biogas, pyrolysis gasification, and pollution control, became involved in pollution control in 1985, following an explosion in a residential home in the UK caused by the migration of landfill gas from a nearby uncontrolled landfill site. This incidence led to an increased interest in landfill gas control technology as a mechanism to control the escape of gas from the boundaries of infilled waste. As landfill gas is comprised mostly of methane, a highly combustible gas, it quickly became evident that rather than simply burning the gas, it could be used as a renewable fuel to produce electricity.
